Peter Kelly's Stone

Peter Kelly was born in 1751 in Ireland. His wife was Jane Ewing b. 1758. They were both buried near their last home, in Wilcox Co., AL, Peter Kelly passing away 19 DEC 1839 and Jane passing away 24 MAR 1838. Their stones and the stones of some of their descendant have survived (see link above) and were moved (as recorded by Bob Jones) to a new location around 1990 for safekeeping.

One Peter Kelly is listed in the 1790 Federal Census in the Fayette District of Robeson Co., NC, with 1 white male over 16 and four slaves.

Peter Kelly has received credit for Revolutionary War service.

The children of Peter Kelly and Jane Ewing known by me are:

  1. John Kelly, b. 1781 in SC. m. Sarah George b. 22 July 1795. Both are buried near his parents, him passing away 19 JAN 1866 her her, 30 JUL 1835.

  2. Margaret Kelly, b. 11 NOV 1792 in GA, d. 27 NOV 1853 in Kemper Co., MS. m. John Spinks b. 26 DEC 1785 in NC. d. 28 AUG 1861 in Kemper Co., MS.
In Wilcox Co. deed records I have found record of possible other children of Peter and Jane Kelly. For example per p. 260 of Deedbook G, John and Ewing Kelly are listed as administrators of Peter's estate and Geor. P. Kelly is listed as a witness.
